Asylum: Awakening

       With a loud bang the room's door was slung open forcefully. The boy slowly opened his eyes and rubbed his messy green hair as he lay on the dirty mattress he awoke on. The strange guard who burst into his holding room walked to the bed and jerked the boy up by his arm. The boy let out a small groan as the guard started into the hallway with him in tow. "Don't give me that. Dr. Geness wants to see you, so be a good little brat and don't be a pain in the ass." the guard commanded as he pulled the boy at his pace, almost dragging him.

       The boy's eyes hadn't fully focused yet as he was drug past several other holding cells with people of varying ages staring out through the small glass window in the doors. All had worried looks on their faces, probably fearing their turn to be taken to the mysterious Dr. Geness. The boy felt nauseous and dizzy as he stumbled in weak attempts to walk at the guard's pace. His mind was a mess as he struggled to remember how he ended up in this place. The last thing he seemed to be able to focus on was his thirteenth birthday party. Wasn't much of a party though, he didn't have any friends so no one showed up but his mom and aunts who only came because they had nothing better to do. He looked down at his shoes, they were his present. The only one he got that day.

      After the guard had pulled the boy through the hallway and then through a large auditorium they reached a doorway that had two benches on either side with a chubby boy slightly younger than him sitting on one. The guard sat the boy down hard on the bench and pointed a finger at him as if to say 'Don't move or else.' As soon as the guard dissapeared into the room the chubby boy scooted over closer to him. "Hey." the chubby boy mumbled. There was silence. "Hey, my name is Louis. What's your name?" he tried again. The boy just stared at Louis for several moments. His head was still a fog.

       "Uh...Travis." he said as he finally cleared his thoughts. "Where are we?" he asked. Louis shook his head, "I just woke up here. That same guy brought me here just a few minutes ago...like he did you. Hey, why is your hair green?" Travis laughed slightly. "My mom let me dye it for my birthday...I think." he explained as he strained to remember. Just as the words left his mouth the door opened up and a young woman with vibrant red hair led a girl about Travis' age out to a bench. The woman kneeled in front of the girl and held her hand, "Now don't forget, if anyone asks your new name is Rose okay? I'll be right back to take you to your room in just a moment." The girl had her head down and mumbled in response, "Yes Ms. Kyra."

       The guard stepped out and pointed at the two boys to come inside the office as Kyra walked down the hallway. The boys were sat in two chairs placed in front of a large desk. The office was very professional looking but also seemed as if this was one of the few times it had ever been used. Sitting behind the desk was a tall man with strawberry blonde hair wearing a lab coat. When he locked eyes with Travis, it made Travis very uneasy even scared of the man. "Hello Travis, Louis. I'm Dr. Geness." he explained with a grin.

       He began shuffling through papers making the occasional mark here and there as he mumbled to himself. "Alright, let's keep this brief. Officer Cohen, please take Louis and these files down to the labs. Tell them that he is under the project Bio and his name from now on will be the same. Here are Travis' papers. His new name and project will now be known as Twilight. Take them away." With that the guard ordered the two up from their seats and back into the hallway. As the guard walked towards where Kyra had earlier, Louis turned to Travis, "Hey Travis, uh I mean Twilight I guess. What's going on?" Twilight looked ahead, "I don't know but I don't think we're gonna like it."
